Sam Braysher, “whose warm tone and inquisitive approach to harmony is attracting growing attention on the British jazz scene” (All About Jazz) is a London-based alto saxophonist, who has received widespread critical acclaim for his three albums to date.

Sam co-leads this quartet with rising star Hungarian pianist Matyas Gayer, who recently brought his excellent trio to our Club. Matyas’s 2024 album Westbourne Park was selected as one The Times’ best jazz albums of the year. Completing the all-star rhythm section are MOBO award-winning bassist Tom Farmer and ultra-swinging drummer and frequent visitor Steve Brown.

Sam’s latest album explores the work of Kurt Weill, a fascinating composer who lies at the intersection of European classical music, jazz, opera and American musical theatre. Expect to hear classic songs and hidden gems from the Weill catalogue, as well as music by American Broadway composers like Rodgers & Hammerstein & Gershwin.
