O'Higgins and Luft Play Monk and Trane

‘Higgins and Luft’ play 'Monk and Trane' a new and unique project presented the first concert of a 37 date tour at Chichester Jazz Club tonight. The Quartet of tenor sax, guitar, organ and drums produced some truly beautiful sounds whist interpreting the music of Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane with melodic creativity.

The pieces chosen were rarely heard ones like ‘Dreamland’, 'Locomotive' and ‘Like Sonny’ together with the difficult to play ‘Trinkle-Tinkle’ but finishing with two encores of ‘Blue Bolivar Blues’ and ‘I Mean You’.

An inspired start to the new CJC season.

It is good to know that Dave O’Higgins, Rob Luft, Scott Flanigan and Rod Youngs will be bringing some really swinging music to so many jazz clubs and fans this autumn.
