CJC - 2020 All-Stars

Friday, June 5, 2020

Juliet Kelly – Vocals
Judith O'Higgins – Tenor saxophone
Rachel Cohen – Alto saxophone
Jennifer Carr – Piano
Marianne Windham – Bass
Caroline Scott – Drums

A wonderful sextet of quality musicians, some of whom we have enjoyed previously at Chichester and a couple new to CJC but already establishing great reputations. The programme will be mostly jazz standards with unique interpretations. We have brought this group together in a similar vein to our very successful Anniversary All-Stars back in June 2017, but with a difference. Juliet Kelly who enthralled us previously with her ‘Divas of jazz’ project will provide the vocals along with the wonderful percussive pianist, Jennifer Carr.

Judith O’Higgins learnt saxophone as a teenager and was torn between which careers to pursue. Her book "Traces of Death" financed a dream of recording a big band at Abbey Road studios which resulted in her debut CD as leader: The Abstract Truth Big Band (2015)

Marianne Windham became a full time musician in 2011 after resigning as a Company Director to pursue her passion for the double bass. She is the driving force behind Guildford and Fleet Jazz Clubs, where she has performed with such notable names as Alan Barnes, Dave O’Higgins, Karen Sharp, and John Etheridge.

Scottish drummer Caroline Scott has become a regular on the London jazz scene in recent years. She has played and recorded in a wide range of musical environments, from theatre shows and jazz big bands, to playing on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
