Christian Garrick is an award winning British jazz violinist and was the first jazz violin graduate of London’s illustrious Royal Academy of Music. Christian met Stephane Grappelli in 1976 and he became his first instrumental idol. He now leads his Spirit O’ Stephane ensemble in a concert that recalls the incredible 79 year career of Grappelli - from Django Reinhardt to Pink Floyd.

This is a wonderful swinging show in the instrumental tradition of the Hot Club Of France and Django Reinhardt featuring favourites such as Sweet Georgia Brown, Strike Up the Band and Ain’t Misbehavin’ together with beautiful ballads Flamingo, Nuages and The Folks Who Live on the Hill.

Christian has featured as soloist with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Nigel Kennedy, Bireli Lagrene, Dolly Parton, All About Eve, Duffy, Van Morrison, Dame Cleo Laine and the late great Sir John Dankworth. He has also recorded six solo albums and is leader of the legendary Budapest Cafe Orchestra of Harringay. As a busy studio musician he has added his violin to a wealth of film soundtracks including Les Miserables, The Hobbit, Brideshead Revisited, La Vie En Rose, Chicago. He is a professor of jazz violin studies at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music in London.

"Garrick plays marvellously bringing his own stamp to Grappelli’s relaxed lyricism, without losing the maestro’s sense of vibrancy..." - Guardian
