Belying its name, this versatile band doesn't play just Dixieland jazz. The Dixieland Express concerts take the form of a musical 'whistle stop' journey through a wide spectrum of styles.
The three-piece front line and three rhythm line-up allows them to move from the New Orleans classic period through swing, urban blues, and mainstream to their own arrangements of compositions by some of the more modern jazz greats such as Ellington and Mingus, etc. This brings a freshness and variety into their constantly changing programmes.
Recent performances include the West End’s ‘Spice of Life’, Epsom Playhouse, Wickham Bishops, Colchester Jazz Club and many others in London and the Home Counties.
Rest assured - whatever is played, it will be with enthusiasm and feeling!
Line-up: Goff Dubber - clarinet, saxes, vocals, Andy Woon - cornet, trumpet, Mike Hogh - trombone, Jonathan Vinton – piano, Peter Morgan - double bass, Martin Guy – drums.
All meetings start at 7.45pm - doors open at 6.30pm
