A saxophonist who can be both fiery and lyrical, Athens-born Vasilis Xenopolous started his musical education at the age of 9 and eventually graduated from the prestigious Berklee College, Boston of Music.
He works extensively in both Greece and the UK, playing with such stalwarts as Steve Waterman, Alan Barnes, Martin Shaw and, of course, CJC favourite, Nigel Price, with whom he has a particular musical connection.
Nigel’s flowing guitar lines and masterful chording are well known to the Club.
This stellar group will be enhanced even further by the scintillating trumpet of Steve Fishwick.
Vasilis’ latest album ‘The Wind Machine’ features intriguing arrangements of timeless classic big-band hits such as ‘Four Brothers’, ‘Splanky’, ‘Sophisticated Lady’ and ‘Tin Tin Deo’. Much of the evening will be devoted to material from this exciting album which has received both critical and public acclaim.
Line-up: Vasilis Xenopoulos - tenor saxophone, Nigel Price - guitar, Steve Fishwick - trumpet Gabriel Latchin - Hammond organ, Matt Home - drums.
All meetings start at 7.45pm - doors open at 6.30pm
