Originally a Country-Blues artist, recording for the Transatlantic label, Dave Murrell spent several years touring Canada and the U.S.A appearing with, among others, BB King, Long John Baldry and Roberta Flack. He is now better known in South East England as a jazz guitarist and educator.
Graham Neill is an amazingly powerful and expressive blues guitarist in the tradition of Buddy Guy. Working a rich vein of blues and jazz, Pete Saunders has a deep, gritty unaffected voice and rhythmic keyboard style, be it on piano or Hammond organ.
One of the U.K’s most solid and musical blues rhythm sections, John Gordon and Graham Walker have accompanied, either as a unit or separately, a host of performers including Mose Allison, Elvis Costello, Eric Burden, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Bill Haley and Gary Moore.
For CJC, this is a rare journey into blues music, but Dave is promising a trip through the rural and Delta blues of the deep South cotton fields and juke joints, through to the jazz inflected music of the urban speakeasies and the brash electric sounds of Chicago’s Maxwell Street. Quite a trip!
