For a second time, Alex Hutton returned to CJC to amaze his audience with his stunning playing and technical brilliance. His first set was dedicated to his Magna Carta Suite which takes as it its influences Palestrina / Gregorian chants, Baroque, Old English Jigs and the composers Vaughan Williams, JS Bach, Chopin, Scriaban and Steve Reich. This rich eclectic mix of styles enables Alex to interpret through his music the historical significance of the Charter and its impact through time.
The second set was a collection of standards with one or two originals.
Alex is a master of his craft and one of the finest pianists to play CJC. It was wonderful to have him back as ever more than ably supported by Dave Whitford on bass and Asaf Sirkis on drums.
Line-up: Alex Hutton - piano, Dave Whitford - bass, Asaf Sirkis - drums.
